Furthering its dedication to being a top Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) solution provider in the Middle East, WellAir (parent company of Plasma Air and Novaerus) is pleased to announce Petra Engineering Industries has chosen its Plasma Air HVAC ionization solutions for the Riyadh Metro Project. The new project is expected to be the centerpiece of the city’s public transport system and is estimated to cost approximately $22.5 billion to build.
The Riyadh Metro Project — the world’s biggest urban rail outside of China — consists of six metro lines spanning a total length of 176 kilometers, with 85 stations. Petra’s Jordan facility provided the HVAC ionization equipment to lines 4, 5, and 6 and included Plasma Air in their systems. These ionization systems are designed to safely control bacteria, mold, odors, and PM2.5 effectively. The new stations will now benefit greatly from clean indoor air, free from harmful pollutants and contaminants.
“I am pleased that WellAir is a selected partner in the Riyadh Metro Project. This is a tremendous initiative and will help further our mission of providing safe living and working conditions through improved IAQ,” said Kevin Devlin, CEO of WellAir. “By working with Petra Engineering Industries, we can make a significant impact in the field of indoor air quality. I am convinced that we will not stop here and hope to collaborate in the future.”
Petra Engineering Industries with headquarters in Jordan was founded in 1987 with a vision to produce a wide variety of HVAC equipment catering to the worldwide market. Petra is now exporting to over 50 countries, including the USA.
In support of the WellAir and Petra partnership, Mike Hogan the regional director of Enterprise Ireland and Irish Ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Vincent O’Neill accompanied WellAir executives on a visit to the Petra Headquarters in Al Muwuqqar. This is where Petra’s Central Research and Development is located and also the site of the main factory. Dr. O’Neill said, “we are delighted that an Irish innovator such as WellAir was chosen to work with an equally innovative and well-respected company as Petra Engineering Industries. As the first Irish Ambassador to Jordan, I see a huge potential for cooperation between our two countries, and I look forward to facilitating an excellent relationship going forward.”
